Fiilis oli kuin New Yorkissa konsanaan! Bageli ja brownie toimivat mainiosti. Ihan kuin olisi ulkomaille mennyt! Ekstrapisteet palvelusta! Voisi olla halvempi mutta hinnat reiluja osoitteen huomioon ottaen.
The coffee at this cafe is the best! The sandwiches are tasty and the assortment of sweet treats to chose from is unparalleled. The brownies are a special delight. The coffee is so satisfying that I usually don't eat the lovely coin chocolate that come on the side. Saving the treats in my bag provided me the experience of having a candy for the little girl 'witches' that bestowed a lovely branch covered with colorful feathers upon me. It carried the good feelings beyond the cafe' and into my day. That's the take away from this establishment beyond the food experience; a genuinely positive treasure.
This small, warm and cozy cafe is my favourite! The service is the best in town and the staff always makes you feel welcome. The music and overall atmosphere offers a break from the hectic outside world.
Everything on their menu is priced accordingly, actually most of their prices are even cheaper than in big chain cafes like Wayne's Coffee. Plus the quality is so much better than anywhere else I've been to. They also offer a -10% discount for students on all items which helps out a lot since I don't have too much money to spare.
I'm a big fan of their authentic New York bagels- have to get mine every morning! On the sweet side my favorites are the giant cookies and delicious fudge brownies. I never get tired of them.
I might not recommend this place to you if your bus is coming in a minute and you're in a real hurry. Of course they have coffee ready at all times but special coffees take a while to prepare, especially if there's many people in line. I prefer to come and enjoy my tea and coffee with time and leisure- that's how you get the best cafe experience.
Great location and the service was quick and happy.
I had an excellent cup of coffee, which really made my day and reminded me how bad regular coffee can be in most places. It was fresh, aromatic and HOT. The chocolate coin is a waste of space though.
On the other hand, the bagel was awful. It was heavy in the middle (maybe as if it hadn't cooked through) and was neither sweet enough nor salty enough and the cinnamon taste just didn't come through (and not enough Philly to make up for t). I'm not sure blaming the flour/water/climate/latitude etc is the way to go.. Either get the recipe right or find a proper baker.
PS: I hate Frank Sinatra, it reminds me of the in-store muzak in Stockmann Tapiola... they've been playing the same CD for over a decade. Some real jazz would be nice.
I know this is a new place so I'll go easy.
10 euro for 3 bagels is Too much. I took one of each for sampling and was not impressed with the bagels taste or texture. It was pretty dry.
I didn't have time to sit for a coffee, but it looks like a cute place to hang out with a friedn. Some more works on the bagels along with a more appropriate pricing, and thisnplace could be golden.
I think this cafe is new so even if some things aren't great , I am sure they will work it out after getting a lot of feedback.
Personally I think this place is LOVELY!
I wish they would have more tasty bagels and cheaper than with the add ons if someone wishes to buy it plain. I still think the bagels are a bit overpriced also the quality isn't best ( too hard, not crispy, not chewy inside). ANyway I know that finnish flour is not the easiest to deal with so I hope they will figure out something to get these bagels right.
I'd say bagels are essential, and the best if they were handmade broiled, boiled and baked as the traditional recipe says. Otherwise they should not be called bagels, but huge pretzels. :D
ANyway I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope this place is gona be no.1 in HElsinki for a goooooooood famous brooklyn bagel, or a toasted muffin with some butter and ya know jelly, peanut butter... in terms of bagels I think HEinotukku has bbiiig ( 1-3kg) pack philadelphia cream cheese to deliver- you should consider that cream cheese and not any finnish version of it, cause that would e a shame :)
