I am a flying chef from China to Finland. I moved to Finland almost a month now. What I brought with me is the latest 51 dishes of Asian curry such as appetizers, soup, salad, pasta, rice, vegetarian, meat, burger, pasta, and seafood. If you love Asian curries from Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Indian. I do cater for Oriental cooking as well;)

After 3 months in Helsinki, I went to one Thai restaurant as a Thai-Chinese chef from Bangkok and Shanghai. I wrote one review at Kok Thai after arriving Helsinki with my husband for 2 weeks prior. It is a time to go more Thai food. Too bad that I am a chef but fortunately, I am simple when it comes to food. Good starter then it will be good entree. I walked to Bulevadi with my husband then stop at Villa Thai to check a real fine dinning Thai restaurant in Helsinki. My husband normally likes to have just a real good wine. I love to taste food and drink. I could not find my favorite, fresh Spring rolls, for starter so I ordered deep fried vegetarian spring rolls. It was not busy at Villa Thai with one waitress and the Finnish, fine lady whom we think is the owner. There were three tables including me and my husband's. The service was well but the food is cold and dry. It took 5 minutes to serve my 4 spring rolls. Easy guess that the chef gave me food which was ready to serve but not ready to eat. The spring rolls were soft and not crispy. After one bite,I felt like eating all skins of spring roll not the stuffing inside. I am sure it was vegetarian but could not say what were the ingredients. The bed of spring rolls were raw cabbages and carrot but not fresh. The chef should have put more attention to his dishes while the restaurant were not so busy at all. Again, I could not take a chance to try the main courses as the simple one had no impression to me. My husband does not know much about Thai food besides my food as Finnish man but he also agreed that the food did not look good and taste good as the decoration inside. OR we went at the wrong time:(

The choice of house wine is nice. We enjoyed the selection form the waitress who is Thai. It was a bit 30 minutes early for closing when the sign says it close at 11pm. we were asked politely to leave the restaurant at 10.30pm. My husband was a bit upset as he still has not finished his lat glass of wine. But we were cool. The whole evening for us at Villa Thai was just acceptable for the first experience at Villa Thai.....

I am new here in Helsinki for 2 weeks. I am Thai-Chinese and culinary chef who owned several Thai-Chinese restaurant in Bangkok and Shanghai. Now I have my business for culinary consultant with my husband in Helsinki, Cuisine Alyssa.

I start my daily business to survey good Thai and Oriental food in Helsinki Metropolitan areas. Kok Thai is the restaurant which is close where I lived. I dropped by to see how my first Thai taste in Helsinki likes;) The best way to check the food at the restaurant in order to play safe is to order one starter to try. If it is good then I can try the main dishes. I order " Yam Woon Sen" which is popular dish for Thai salad. It is too sour with white vinegar, dice cucumbers, and onions. There is no flavor of fish sauce and lime juice. There are 2 people for wait staff and they were doing real fine job to accommodate many Finnish customers for launch time. I was surprise that there were many customers keep coming for lunch and take away. I feel like my Thai salad was cooked by Chinese chef as I know how typical taste of Chinese's cucumber salad.

It make me feel better after all that the part of business to let Finnish customers , who loves Thai and Chinese food, know the differences of Thai and Chinese dishes like we, Asian, do not know differences of Italian to French Stew. First impression of cooking good food is starter so I did not have impression to try to others........
