A great meal, the restaurant was an unobstrusive backdrop to a catch-up with a good friend. Attentive but not pushy staff, well matched wine recommendations and an unhurried service. The deer ragout was excellent, would love to eat it again.

I am glad to see this Helsinki landmark open again, after refurbishment of the building which lasted way too long. Great for Sunday brunch, good coffee and cakes and a great view of senatintoori and the catherdral.

Anticipating a relaxing end to a busy week, I ordered antipasti and a pizza. Half an hour after the starter plate was cleared the pizza had still not arrived. When I asked the waitress, they managed to find my now cold pizza in a corner of the kitchen and tried to get me to accept it. I will not be going back.

I can't comment on pricing as I was not paying the bill. But the food was excellent and clearly deserves the Michelin star. Attentive but not intrusive staff add to the overall experience.

We visited Primula because Crustum was full, an increasingly regular occurrence. They offer brunch with or without sparkling wine, the former was 15€, the same as Crustum's price after a recent increase, so I suspect they are trying to win some custom back.

The food was OK - a selection of hot and cold items, bread, yoghurt, fruit juice etc. and a reasonable atmosphere. Worth a visit, but probably not good enough to convert me for good from their near neighbour.

Great place for an unplanned meal on a Friday night. Good pizze, Peperoni was unusually spicy for Finland, a nice change!
Creme brulee with Rhubarb was a refreshing change and the Merlot was very drinkable. I'll be back!

Great surroundings, once you manage to find it from the street. 3 set breakfasts were on offer, English, Berlin or Buddha (?) or cake and coffee for those with a smaller appetite. A pleasant place to chill out on a Sunday morning, but get there close to when they open at 11:00 if you want a chance of a seat, especially if you are taking a group.

A great venue for an outdoor meal on a sunny summer evening. The island is easy to reach and not overcrowded, the service was attentive and unhurried.
Food was good but not outstanding, the mixed platter was an interesting range of flavours - have a starter before this and I doubt you'll have room for dessert.
The smoke beer is worth a try too!

A great combination of German bakery with cafe, offering a good value Sunday brunch from 11:00-14:00. Offering a good selection of breads, possibly the best I've eaten in Helsinki, together with cold meats. yoghurt, fruit compote, juices and good coffee. The best meal I have had anywhere in the world in 40+ years on the planet and only a few hundred metres from my apartment.
We had 5 of the possible 7 courses and took the matching wines (another €49 per head). In addition, an amuse-bouche to begin, delicious home-made cola drink and a lemon verbena mini-cone between courses.
If you spend any time in Helsinki and don't eat here, you are a chump, but you'll need to book in advance, it is not a big place.

Good steak tartare to start, well cooked tuna steak for main and a dessert featuring Bailey's ice cream and set chocolate mousse. Every wine on the list available by the glass.

Charging 1 euro for tap water at their prices does seem a bit penny pinching, but overall a good experience.

Back home, we live close to the headquarters of the Gurkha regiment, so there are a few Nepalese restaurants there. Satkar did not disappoint, though the menu seemed very similar to most Indian restaurants here.
The vegetable samosas were a good appetiser and one portion would be enough for two people. I had the meat Thali as main course, which includes well spiced Chicken Tikka, tasty Lamb Massala, rice, dahl, raita and one of the best Nan breads I have eaten - thin and crispy from the tandoor oven. A good Kulfi cleansed the palate afterwards and the Tikka Gold beer was a new discovery. Well worth a visit.
