Whatever it is you want to come back for: food, the waitress, conviviality, just enough light, a nice wine list that won't wreck your budget, being seated comfortably, seeing enough people who also like it, nostalgia, the right music - you name it. Usually it boils down to a combination of price, quality and service, with some personal chemistry involved.
