Perjantai-ilta heinäkuun lopulla. Puhelimitse tehdyssä varauksessa pyysin nimenomaan kahden hengen ikkunapöytää. Vastaus oli ettei voi puhelimitse varata/luvata tiettyä pöytää, mutta toivomus kirjataan ylös. Ikkunapöytää emme kuitenkaan saaneet, vaan pöydän vilkkaalta kulkuväylältä. Hetken kuluttua vapautui yksi kahden hengen ikkunapöytä, pyysin siirtoa siihen (emme olleet vielä tilanneetkaan). Ei onnistunut, koska tämä nimenomainen pöytä oli kuulema varattu. Eli vähän ristiriitaista tietoa varauskäytännöstä. Lisäksi kyseinen pöytä pysyi tyhjänä koko illan eikä henkilökunta edes siivonnut edellisten ruokalijoiden jälkiä. No, se siitä. Ruoka oli herkullista mutta palvelu äärimmäisen hidasta ja horjuvaa, hovimestari ja tarjoilija kävivät vuorotellen kysymässä samoja asioita/tilauksiamme eli olivat vähän pihalla. Leipää tuotiin mutta ei voita, loppuillasta kysyttiin haluammeko lisää voita ... Terassi oli viihtyisä etenkin loppuillasta. Tämä olisi Helsingin ykköspaikka sijaintinsa ja miksei ruoankin puolesta (tosin suolaa oli liikaa), mutta vähän voisi tosiaan rempata ja panostaa asiakaspalveluun.

Viehättävä ravintola!
Ruoka on todella hyvää (kastikkeet loistavia!) mutta lista on viikonloppuna hyvin rajallinen (yksi liharuoka, yksi kasvisruoka ja yksi kalaruoka). En suosittele erikoisruokavaliollisille. Kalaruoka oli lohta; aika tylsä valinta meriravintolassa. Drinkkilista on liian suppea, vaikka cocktailit sopisivat loistavasti muuhun tarjoiluun. Oletin, että paikka olisi täynnä kesäviikonloppuna mutta tilaa oli paljon.
Palvelu sen sijaan oli luvattoman hidasta. Ensimmäinen ruokalaji tuli pöytään tunti tulomme jälkeen. Laskun maksoin lopulta tiskillä. Emme missään vaiheessa saaneet leipää, tosin ehkä sitä ei tarjoilla ravintolassa ollenkaan.
Tämä ravintola voisi olla todellinen Helsingin helmi-- sellainen paikka, jonne haluaa palata aina uudelleen. Jostain syystä se ei sitä oikein ole.

Boathouse on sijainniltaan yksi Suomen parhaimmista, melkein jopa ulkomerellä ja siten luonnon keskellä. Ravintolarakennuksessa on menneen ajan dekadenssia ja remontoituna paikka olisi varmasti upea, nykyisellään kuitenkin hieman rapistunut ja ummehtunut. Tarttis tehrä jotain...
Suuressa kaksikerroksisessa salissa oli seurueemme lisäksi vain pari muuta poppoota, vaikka naapurin saariravintolassa olivat myyneet samalle illalle ei oota. Siten vaikuttaa, ettei Boathouse ihan Palacen ykkönyrkki ole.
Alkruokana ollut valkoinen anjovissalaatti oli maukas ja ruokaisa, pienempikin setti olisi ollut riittävästi. Pääruoaksi otin talon pihvin, mikä olikin oikein hyvä valinta runsaine bearnaise-kastikkeineen ja rapsakoine papuineen. Jälkkärin valkosuklaamojito oli maistuva raikkaan mintun ja valkosuklaan combo. Tässäkin pienempikin annos olisi riittänyt, hyvää kun oli niin kaikki tuli kuitenkin herkuteltua...
Eli kaiken kaikkiaan ruoka oli hyvää ja sitä oli riittävästi. Dinnerin mieleenpainuvin osuus oli kuitenkin nuori tarjoilija, joka palveli meitä tilausten ottamisesta aina pääruoan odotteluun asti. Hänen otteensa oli rivakka, melkein jopa töykeä, mutta kuitenkin olin aistivinani innostusta omaan työhönsä. En tiedä, oliko kyseessä sitten lyhyen kokemuksen aiheuttama jännitys, pitkän työvuoron väsymys tai kiire kotiin, mutta selkeästikin matkaa hienovaraiseen ja eleganttiin toimintaan oli jäljellä vielä jokunen vuosi. Hitan palvelu mitä olen kokenut. Alkudrinkin, alkuruuan, pääruuan ja jälkiruuan saamiseen meni yli 3 tuntia. Ruoka kelvollista mutta reilusti ylihinnoiteltua.
