"Mediocre takeaway sushi followed by some of the best cake in Helsinki is what I feel like for lunch today" are words I would not expect anyone I know to ever utter. Nevertheless, Maki-Bar (located where Krulla used to be) caters to this inexplicable desire, serving sushi, cake and coffee in a somewhat cozy environment. The place feels like a real-life Kamome Diner, not only in the totally awkward Japanese-Finnish menu fusion but also in the doe-like, very nice waitstaff that really need just a bit of time to blossom into awesome foodslingers. In terms of the sushi cuisine, do what my sister always says and never eat sushi in a place that doesn't exclusively serve sushi - if you're got a craving for a roll or two, amble on over to Len's cafe (closer to five corners), or roll up the other direction to Daruma - two sushi joints that will whip up a plate for you fresh and in a jiffy if you tell them that you're in a rush. If you want to get some of that kakkugalleria on, this is as fine a place as any (the other two locations I know of being the place in Design Forum on Erottaja and the original one on Bulevardi). In closing, while I'm down on the sushi, I think you should go here - mainly because they're trying so hard, and I hope in the future they'll develop into a place that's really great to go to - just like in Kamome Diner ;)
