We feel that inscribing their name in a far north country thousands of miles away from their homeland Nepal is one of the ways to pay tribute to them. The "brave" Gurkhas are the military units in British and the Indian army, recruited from Nepal. The Gorkhalis were highlighted during the "Gurkha war" (1814-1816). The war between the Gurkha Kingdom and the British East India Company left an impression on the British army, there on, the Gorkhali Army were renouned as 'The Gurkhas'. Gurkhas apporached every fight with their war cry " jaya mahakali" ,glory to great kali and they still do. The Gurkhas are closely associated with a Khukhuri, "a forward curving Nepalese knife". It was once said by the officer working with the Gurkha army, "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha". We believe that it would be no exaggeration to say that in a short period of two decades Nepalese cuisine and hospitality has won the hearts of Finns and non-Finns.
