Restaurant: Demo michelin-gourmet

These guys know what they're doing, both in the kitchen and the dining room.

Restaurant: Gaijin

Gaijin serves really good north-eastern asian food, but they want you to swallow your food quick and get out so they can sit the next customer on your table!

The food:
We took the Gaijin menu (9 courses + rice), every dish was very tasty and looked amazing, these chefs know what they're doing.

The drinks:
*Good champagne and wines

The service:
*5 different waiters, no one really took ownership of our table
*We asked four times to slow down the pace at which they brought the dishes but nothing happened...food on the table getting cold.
*Dirty plates not taken away instead had to keep on asking for new plates on and on.
*Waiters don't seem to know that ladies are to be served first.

It's a shame that such good food is not paired with equal customer service. It was definitely worth it trying once but never going back again!

Good starters, main course was a total fail, dessert never came and bad customer service.
I tried to make a reservation online well in advance but no one ever replied, we decided to walk-in for lunch and give it a shot.

We went for the 3-course lunch option. For starter we took Som Tam and Egg Net. When brought, they were properly introduced and laid on the table. Both were very eye appealing dishes, indeed a solid good presentation and proper size. The flavours hit it right in the nail, so far so good (food & service speaking), couldn't wait for main course :D

We chose to have Lamb & Pumpkin for main course. What was laid in front of us was such a visual downgrade from the starters, a horrible presentation. The lamb was dry, the pumpkin so overcooked it had no texture and the amount of sauce seemed to be a desperate attempt to cover the dryness of the meat... there was a huge bowl of rice to compensate for the poor size of the main course and ah, the plate was just laid in front of us, no presentation, no telling it was a shared plate.

Waited and waited and dessert never came.

In my opinion a 3-course meal is a build up to a happy ending, this was the opposite.

Restaurant: La Table

Bravo, bravo and bravo! La Table has a very fresh-cozy ambience. Our waiter was very professional and friendly. The 3-course lunch was excellent, each of its components was beautifully put together and the combination of flavors and textures was a total success. The pace at which the food was brought to us felt very smooth and each course was a progression to a happy ending. I cannot wait to visit for dinner!

Good starters, main course was a total fail and bad customer service.
I tried to make a reservation online well in advance but no one ever replied, still my wife and I decided to walk-in for lunch and give it a shot. We were warmly greeted by the maître d’ and shown to our table.
The place wasn't even full, yet the waiter took + 10 minutes to come offer drinks, she then brought them rather quick and along came the menus. We went for the 3-course lunch option. I won't bother describing the place.
For starter my wife took the Som Tam option and I had the Egg Net. When brought, they were properly introduced and laid on the table. Both were very eye appealing dishes, indeed a solid good presentation and proper size. The flavours hit it right in the nail, so far so good (food speaking), couldn't wait for main course.
We both decided to have Lamb & Pumpkin for main course. Once we finished with the starters we chit chatted for a while, then a different waiter showed up with the main course. The empty dishes of the starters hadn't even been removed and there wasn't enough space for the food, still she managed to push the empty dishes around. She took the dirty dishes, half cleaned the spill she made and left, no explanation of the food whatsoever, neither that the plate she brough was to be shared. This is where things started going down the pooper. What was laid in front of us (main course?) was such a visual downgrade from the starters, it was literally lamb and pumpkin, a lot of sauce and nothing else. The meat was plain dry and the pumpkin so overcooked it had no texture left, the amount of sauce seem to be a desperate attempt to cover the dryness of the meat...and of course there was a huge bowl of rice to compensate for the small size of the main course.
In came the second waiter and away went the plates. After a while she came again to offer coffee, I thought it was odd as dessert was next but still we order our coffee. Five minutes later came the coffee, it was obvious at this point that they forgot about our desserts. After the "main course" we decided maybe it was better not to have the dessert and drank our poorly made coffee, then I asked for the bill and my wife let them know dessert never came. The waiter was apologetic and offer to ammend it by bringing the desserts right away but we opted out of it. She then didn't charge our drinks in the bill and the menu charge was for 2 course lunches.
Even though they apologized for their mistakes and made ammends, I don't want apologies, I want good customer service and good food! Maybe I'm a food snob or maybe Finland's 2011 #1 restaurant didn't do as good for us, you decide.
