Restaurant: Globe bold and authentic

Sat down for dinner on a Saturday evening, the restaurant buzzing but not too crowded, busy or hectic. Having decided on the tasting menu, we happily proceeded with the recommended wines, especially after taking a peek at the white wine cabinet next to our table. We were presented with a pre dinner snack tree, the sommelier brought on the first wine, home made bread served on hot stones served along with two kinds of home made butter found their way to our table and so the dinner commenced. Throughout the dinner we were in aw of the ingredients used, the playful presentation of components and how each item tasted so surprisingly genuine. The food brought an element of surprise in it's complicated simplicity. The dish that really stood out for me was the main course of pork presented in four different ways.

Some flavor combinations brought on a conversation that divided opinions, but each to his own. I find a good dinner always leaves room for discussion. The wine selections were interesting and complemented the food very well. All in all, we ended up spending about 3,5 hours there, really enjoying our evening and without realizing the time passing. Thumbs up and a big thank you!

Restaurant: Grotesk ravintola

Went dining on a Saturday evening at 6, place looked quite full. We had purchased Facediili vouchers for the 5 course Chef's menu. Food itself was seasonal, good, well made, tasted nice, but a bit predictable and not too exciting. Service in the beginning felt a bit rushed, and after enquiring, we were told about the time limit of 2,5 hours. No problem, fine with us. Main courses of braised calves cheek took unexpectedly long to be served, where as the two starters of celery soup and baltic herring were served quite rapidly. The result of this was, that as we were served the fourth course of selected cheese, we only had 10mins left of our reserved time. The chocolate dessert ended the menu very nicely, but in the rushy atmosphere among the service staff and after nearly 3,5 hours of sitting on a very drafty seat next to the door we chose to take our coffees and after dinner drinks elsewhere.

The wine list looked very pleasant and affordable, but in terms of wine suggestions for the food, we relied on our own choices, as the waitress in the beginning didn't seem to have the time to make recommendations apart from the wine package. Our glasses were topped up on request.

Despite the rush, we managed to have a good time, the main course really stood out in the menu and the wines of our choice were delicious.

My favorite pizza after tasting most, is the Margherita. A perfect unity of crispy base, creamy mozzarella cheese and plump tomato. I was positively surprised by the wine list. The server was a bit indifferent but funny in her approach. Interior is very industrial and plain but serves it's purpose well. Opening hours get one last thumbs up from me.
