Ravintola Gurkha
Restaurant Gurkha has been named after the brave Gurkha soldiers who have earned fame for their bravery and honesty all around the world. We feel that inscribing their name in a far north country thousands of miles away from their homeland Nepal is one of the ways to pay tribute to them. We believe people in Finland, both Finns and non-Finns, will support us strongly in our endeavor to tell the stories of Gurkhas.
The "brave" Gurkhas are the military units in British and the Indian army, recruited from Nepal. The Gorkhalis were highlighted during the "Gurkha war" (1814-1816). The war between the Gurkha Kingdom and the British East India Company left an impression on the British army, there on, the Gorkhali Army were renouned as 'The Gurkhas'. Gurkhas apporached every fight with their war cry " jaya mahakali" ,glory to great kali and they still do. The Gurkhas are closely associated with a Khukhuri, "a forward curving Nepalese knife". It was once said by the officer working with the Gurkha army, "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha".
We believe that it would be no exaggeration to say that in a short period of two decades Nepalese cuisine and hospitality has won the hearts of Finns and non-Finns. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the love and appreciation you have shown towards the Nepalese cuisine and hospitality. At Restaurant Gurkha we shall always do our utmost to keep up your expectations. Restaurant Gurkha boasts of a team that is made up of people who have knowledge, experience and most importantly dedication in restaurant business.
Restaurant Gurkha has been envisioned as an ideal place for both quiet dining with family or friends; and cozy place to get over the humdrum and strenuous daily routine over a couple of drinks. Under one ceiling we have two separate places for eating and drinking. Altogether Restaurant Gurkha can seat 140 persons. Children are cordially welcome to Restaurant Gurkha- we have a special play area for them. All in all, Restaurant Gurkha is a place for everybody like the heart of Gurkhas; though small in size it is full of love and care for everybody.
It is conveniently located near the Herttoniemi metro station; opposite K Supermarket Hertta. Taxi stand, and bust stops are very close by. Two-hour free parking is usually available across the street from Gurkha.

Miellyttävä ja tasalaatuinen nepalilainen joka on ollut lounaspaikkana suosikkini jo pitkään. Herkullista, taidokkaasti maustettua ruokaa ja reilut annokset. Salaattipöytä on asiallinen, riisin tilalle pyynnöstä saatavat paistetut kasvikset laadukkaita ja maukkaita, naanleipä ihanaa ja maustettu tee harvinaisen hyvää. Supermukava henkilökunta ja ripeä palvelu. Tunnelmaltaan mukava paikka ja ainakin jossakin päin salia herkkäkuuloinenkin sietää taustamusiikin. Täällä on ilo käydä!
Hyvää tasalaatuista, edullista lounas ruokaa. Myös annoskoot ovat runsaita. Palvelu nopeaa ja ystävällistä. Myös lapset tervetulleita syömään. Käyn itse n. 2 kertaa viikossa lounaalla,
Varmasti stadin paras Nepalilainen, ravintolan alusta asti vakituisesti syönyt täällä vuosien varrella ja ei voi kuin kehua.
Hyvät raaka-aineet, aitoa maistuvaa ruokaa, isot annokset ja aina niin iloinen ja ystävällinen henkilökunta. Vinkki : kannattaa kokeilla valkosipulinaanleipää aterioiden kera, se on herkkua!
Vakkari nepski Herttoniemessä, käyn lounaalla pari kertaa viikossa. Palvelu on nopeaa ja ystävällistä. Lounas valitaan 6 vaihtoehdon väliltä, yleensä tarjolla pari kasvis-, kana-, liha- ja seafood-annokset sekä päivän special. Annokset tulevat lautasella keittiöstä. Salaattibuffet on tyypillinen ehkä hieman vaihtuvuutta toivoisi, plussaa chutneystä ja minttukastikkeesta! Lounaan päälle tarjolla kahvia ja nepalilaista teetä. Ravintolalla myös lounaskortti-systeemi jolloin joka 10. lounaan saa ilmaiseksi, muista pyytää korttisi kassalta.
Gurkha on aina ollut hyvä ja tasalaatuinen. Monille muille ravintoloille tyypillistä tasonvaihtelua en ole havainnut, siksipä täältä tulee usein tilattua darrapäivän nepskut. Ruoka on maukasta ja listalta löytyy sopiva määrä vaihtoehtoja. Myös palvelu on ystävällistä ja ruoat valmistuvat myös kiireaikoina kohtuullisessa ajassa. Suosittelen!
Aina yhtä hyvää ja tasalaatuista ruokaa. Todella nopea, ystävällinen ja iloinen palvelu. Yksi parhaista nepalilaisista stadissa.
It was a take away portion yesterday . Service was terrible.Waiter has no experience of customer care and no manner to speak with customer. i would recommed pikku nepal rather than gurkha.
Hyvä lounas. Satuimme käymään hetkellä jolloin kohteessa oli kohtuuttoman paljon lapsiperheitä joka luonnollisesti latisti tunnelmaa. Mutta eihän paikka voi asiakkaitaan valitella, joten suositellaan
Erittäin ystävällinen ja iloinen henkilökunta. Siisti ja miellyttävä ympäristö. Ruoka on hinta-laatusuhteeltaan loistavaa. Juomavalikoimasta löytyy myös aasialaisia oluita. Ajoittain vaihtuvat lisukkeet annoksissa tuo mukavaa vaihtelua.
Ystävällinen henkilökunta, take away-annoksen sai nopeasti ja annos oli iso ja ruoka hyvää.
